We are making popular Turkish Bulgur Salad “Kisir” in 20 minutes with fresh greens and spices. As a menu along with kısır, I wanted to prepare a Turkish Ladies Tea party concept 🙂

So I made the first thing that comes in mind, borek with white cheese and completed the menu with stuffed grape leaves “dolma”, baklava and tulumba. Of course, the table is not completed without Turkish tea. So I made delicious 20 Minutes Turkish Bulgur Salad “Kisir”.

Join me to see how I made the most popular Turkish Bulgur Salad Kisir Recipe “Kısır” and how I prepared the menu. Even though it is popular among the ladies’ afternoon gatherings, it is surely a delicious menu to enjoy with family and loved ones too.

Ingredients:

  • 1+1/4 cup thin bulgur
  • wheat 1 onion
  • 4-6 spring onions
  • 1/2 bunch of parsley
  • 3-5 pickles
  • 1 +1/2 tbsp tomato paste
  • close to 1 tbsp sweet red pepper paste
  • 5-7 tbsp olive oil
  • One tbsp + 1 tsp dried mint (you can get the spices and more details from here: https://bit.ly/spicesgurme)
  • 1 tsp each cumin, hot red pepper flakes 1 tsp sweet red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp isot pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp sumac (optional)
  • 1 tbsp pomegranate molasses
  • juice of a lemon

Instructions For Bulgur Salad Kisir:

  1. First soak the bulgur wheat in the same amount of hot water, cover, and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  2. Cut the onion into small cubes. In a medium-size pan add 6-7 tbsp olive oil and saute the onion for about 4 minutes on low medium heat.
  3. Chop the vegetables, spring onions, parsley finely, and pickles in small cubes. Add tomato paste, red pepper paste, dried mint, cumin, and hot red pepper flakes and give it a stir.
  4. Finally, add the bulgur wheat and salt and cook for about 3 more minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, you can brew your Turkish tea too 🙂
  6. Taste the kisir and add more spice if you like along with isot pepper, sweet pepper, and sumac (these are optional)
  7. Add the fresh greens after it is cooled down and mix them gently. For the salad sauce, add pomegranate molasses, lemon juice, and more olive oil if needed and enjoy with Turkish tea time treats
